Wildlife is everywhere and very colorful. Expect to see spiders, crabs, and frogs. Iguanas encounters are frequent. But be careful of the snakes, tarantulas, and even crocodiles. Mammals are abound with sightings of monkeys, bats, and anteaters. But don’t be surprised if you see wild cats like jaguars, ocelots, pumas – but most are nocturnal and hide in the trees in the dense rainforest areas.
If you’re an adventurous one, then you’ll many things to do. One of the top attractions is a visit to the Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs, which you can book in advance. Fishing is one of the most popular activities because of the variety of fish you can catch – such as marlin, sailfish, tuna, dorado, tarpon, snapper, snook, wahoo and the colorful rooster fish. Other activities include zip lining, horseback riding, surfing, hiking, paddle boarding, diving, and snorkeling.
The food of course is amazing. Be sure to be open minded as their will be some new experiences and mostly familiar Spanish dishes. For example, Casado is the full meal with meat, plantains, rice and beans. But don’t forget their famous Costa Rican coffee and sweet pineapples.
Finally be sure and have enough cash or have a credit card ready for the Exit Tax which you’ll have to pay at the airport before you depart and check in for your flight back home.
